About conference

We sincerely invite you to attend our conference “Ecology of flora and fauna of forests” from February 3 to 5. The conference will be held in the National Park, which was established in 1978 and covers 210 square kilometers of protected mountain landscapes, forests, lakes and river systems.

The conference will focus on four main areas: (1) Ecosystem disturbance and dynamics in a changing world, (2) Impacts of forest disturbance on biodiversity and ecosystem services, (3) Managing ecosystem dynamics in a changing world: conservation, restoration, natural resources, and (4) New methods and approaches to study forest dynamics. To maximize personal exchange, the conference will be organized as a poster symposium, accompanied by instructive talks and concluding with a field trip to the national park.

Forests are major sources of energy and materials and will play a key role in the transition to a low carbon economy. The challenge is to achieve multifunctionality, where economic returns are maintained without penalty in climate mitigation, water regulation, biodiversity conservation and other goods and services provided by forests. This conference will provide a platform for leading scientists working in this field to discuss these issues and share their latest research. Main topics and sessions of the conference:

  1. Forest ecology and management;
  2. Forest ecophysiology, genetics and molecular biology;
  3. Forest economics, policy and social sciences;
  4. Forest inventory, modeling and remote sensing;
  5. Wood science, forest products and trade;
  6. forest fire hazards, risks and other disasters;

Objective.
The aim of the conference is to summarize and synthesize scientific evidence on the current state of integrated approaches to forest management. This can be understood as approaches in which both forest policy and management provide multiple services simultaneously, either at the stand or forest landscape level.

The conference brings together academic researchers from different disciplines such as policy analysis, ecology, economics, forest (ecosystem) management and conservation. It will also attract policy makers and practitioners.
